Puppets in the church report
On Saturday 29th Sept. FACT, in a joint venture with St Peter’s Staines, held a morning workshop entitled ‘Puppets in the Church’. The day was attended by over 70 people from various church backgrounds. Many arrived with their own puppets raring to go but for others this was their first experience of puppetry.
Simon led a packed few hours, taking people through the benefits and pitfalls of using puppets to explore the gospel message. With a variety of his ‘friends’ such as ‘Chatty Charlie, ‘The Professor’ and ‘Baby’ he explained some of the nuances of the art. It was an interactive occasion with groups having the opportunity to develop their skills in story telling, singing and mime.
It was great to see how this ministry can bring all age groups together as they form puppet teams. The hall was a cacophony of colour as a multitude of puppets took to the stage to sing ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful.’

A comment we received, “Brilliant, let’s have more. Perhaps an advanced workshop.”
