Faith Awareness in Children Trust
Registered Charity Number 1055843

Last updated 15/07/08

Why was it formed?
Simon Shutt was the driving force behind the formation and establishment of FACT. He could see a need for an organisation to facilitate opportunities for children to understand and consider the claims of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

When was it formed?
FACT is a registered charity and started in April 1996.

What makes it different from other Christian children’s charities?
FACT seeks to move beyond merely providing information about Christianity: It wants children to question whether it makes any difference to them. It offers children opportunities to wrestle with the big questions in life: Who am I? Where do I come from? Where am I going?

Can I make a donation?
Yes. If you would like to support the work of FACT then get in touch for further details about: Gift Aid, Legacies, one-off gifts etc.

Will FACT come and work for me?
Yes, but there are limitations on the amount of time and personnel available, so a quick enquiry will soon answer any questions you might have, without the fear of being pestered into engaging the expertise of FACT.

How is it funded?
FACT wants to be able to serve groups large or small regardless of ability to pay. Therefore it is always seeking charitable funding. This comes from individuals, churches, schools, community groups, grant making trusts and fund raising events. FACT does charge for some of its work, where appropriate.

Are its workers vetted?
All of Fact’s workers, paid or voluntary are vetted. A child protection policy is used. A declaration is obtained from each volunteer concerning their own bona fides which is backed by 2 confidential references. We usually ask for one of the references to be from the volunteer's pastor/minister. No volunteer is utilised until this process has been undertaken. All workers and volunteers are also CRB checked. All references are kept confidentially on file.

Who are its trustees and main workers?
Check out the who’s who page where profiles on the trustees and main workers are on display.
