What’s happening in the latest assemblies

wpd49b19be.gif

This term’s assembly is centred around the story of Esther, the beautiful young Jewish girl who became queen of Persia. Esther was prepared to sacrifice everything she had in order to try to save her people. Esther knew she was putting herself in mortal danger by approaching the king uninvited and by speaking up for her people. It wasn’t easy
for her. She didn’t want to risk giving up so much but she                                     knew it was

‘SACRIFICE’
To give up something you value for the good of someone else

The challenge for the the listeners
came in the following scenario. A
friend has won a fantastic ticket
to a local theme park, free entry, free lunch, free gift, no queuing.  The ticket is for your friend and four guests but there are 6 in your group. You have been to the theme park before, the others have never been. Would you be prepared to give up your place in order for a friend to go in your place? Sacrifice hurts, if it didn’t it wouldn’t be a sacrifice.  However, there are the positive feelings we can have when we know we are doing the right thing.
